The following were taken on a one day trip to Havana. In Cuba this is Habana.

This view is taken from the Citadel across Havana Harbor This view is right of the previous one and shows a modern city This was the original fort protecting the city. Now tourist stuff

This is currently a museum, but it is modeled after the  US Capitol building. It is supposed to be larger, and was the   Pre-Castro seat of government.

These are street scenes with the Spanish look so  frequent here. There is a program underway to restore these to  former glory.

  The next picture is the tank Castro used to battle in the Bay  of Pigs, and the small tower is part of the original city wall,  which dates from the 1600's

This is the former presidential palace.  These pictures, all from the same area, show more  architecture and history of the Cuban struggle. Inside this building is  the boat that brought Guevara from Mexico.

This is a tower and statue (at the base) of Jose Marti, the first hero of the revolution from pre US days. Castro works behind. Che Guevara adorns the Ministry of the Interior building, and these all surround the Plaza where Castro often speaks.

Ornate architecture typical of colonial times. This is the view opposite the former presidential palace. Formerly a palace where visiting colonial rulers stayed. This is in the interior open air courtyard of the palace.
