These are some photos
from our spring, 2002 vacation to Cuba.
We stayed on the Veradero peninsula which has some 47
resort hotels, up from 9 before the '90s. These are all joint ventures with the Cuban government in
51% control. This hotel is new, having been completed in November 2001. The
climate here is slightly cooler than the southern end of Cuba which
benefits from the Caribbean ocean.
There is also a town of Veradero about a 15 min walk
from the hotel towards the mainland. Adjacent to this town, on the
mainland side, is where almost all of the
hotel workers live, as well as some original townspeople. Link to Veradero
or Havana
to see more.

The hotel calls this an ocean view over the
highway and construction
We arranged to move to the other side of the
hotel for better views.
There are 2 pools and many bungalows suitable
for family & quiet

There were also several elevators, but this
seemed a combination staircase and sculpture
Throughout the atrium there were birdcages
housing parakeets and others.
Hotel grounds had many shrubs and flowers. It
was like a constant garden.

Central Park Lagoon
This was one day on the Atlantic by the
hotel. Most days were calm.
This is a less formal restaurant, with
prices in the less than $10 range.
This park had several restaurants and
nice gardens near the hotel.
